Rationale

In order to align the labour force in Pakistan with the expectations of the private sector a significant shift in technical education is needed. However, despite the presence of 3,125 vocational training institutes in the country, we find job market requirements not being met.

This can partly be attributed to out-dated teaching material and equipment. Lack of focus on softer competences, such as language and interpersonal skills are other issues of concern that remain unaddressed. This has led to bench-marked work-place standards not being met and hence students that graduate from these institutes are under-qualified to cope with rapid changes in business and industry processes.
