Aspiration and Focus

In keeping with its vision of a vibrant, healthy Karachi, the Aman Foundation is creating a three-pronged healthcare eco-system; with outreach initiatives targeted toward essential healthcare issues.

The core components of this three-pronged strategy is to bring care to the home of the most vulnerable, to provide care during transport and the establishment of accessible healthcare facilities for mothers and children. These specialised healthcare services are designed to address largely treatable diseases that cause approximately 40 per cent of all deaths (particularly those related to mother-and-child health).

  • At home. In order to assist in the identification and treatment of easy-to-diagnose diseases, two programmes have been designed –The AMANTELEHEALTH Programme that provides access to triage and medical advice over the phone and the Community Health Workers (CHW) Programme that provides health promotion, disease prevention and disease treatment at home. Both programmes focus on mother-and-child healthcare needs.
  • En route. The AMANAMBULANCE Service was created with an aim to ensure timely and high-quality ambulance services in Karachi. The service features an average response time of less than 10 minutes and ensures delivery to the right hospital facility within the “golden hour”.
  • In-facility. With a desire to serve the needs of Karachi’s most underserved segments, the Foundation soon plans to establish a network of low-cost, high-quality Mother-and-Child Hospitals (MCHs).

These programmes are designed to operate synergistically with each other as part of a holistic health eco-system. The AMANTELEHEALTH and CHW programmes aim to raise awareness about optimal health practices, especially for the underserved group of mothers and infants, who will also benefit from the dedicated MCH network. The AMANAMBULANCE Service aims  to facilitate access to emergency medical care and considerably reduce the incidence of avoidable deaths.
